Trip To Amsterdam…

Amsterdam is one of those places that has been massively hyped up, and I can confirm that it 100% deserves it. WOW Amsterdam, you were a beauty. Although, had near to death experiences with bikes. To be expected, yes. However, its honestly like ‘Tour de France’ but everyday and everywhere. EEK! It was actually really fascinating how many bikes there were. The lifestyle is beautiful, I think something us Brits need to take a leaf out of their book on this one.

I loved how in every café you saw people working on their laptops. I loved that feeling. You had these cute, instagramable coffee shops (which of course I loved) that people came to work at. I kinda felt guilty for not working. I have always said I would love to live in London, however, I have found this love and special place in my heart for Amsterdam. Which I didn’t think I would. The vibe is unreal. Everyone is so polite, kind and the views are insanely beautiful!

I think it’s important to address it because it’s such a big part of Amsterdam. ‘The Red Light District.’ That was definitely something to see. If you ever do go to Amsterdam, I would recommend just having a look. It’s culture and a different way of living. It’s important to get educated and see how other people live. It’s their lively hoods. The girls were beautiful and looked like dolls in the windows. We went to the prostitute museum to actually find out more information. It’s so fascinating and different from what we are used to. I think everyone thinks of poverty and being forced when they think of prostitution. However, that’s far from the truth. These girls want to do it. It’s a business; they see it as any other job and you know what fair play to them. I don’t think anyone should judge because they’re just doing a job and if that’s what they want to do then good luck to them. They get checked regularly for any STIs and it’s monitored by the police. It was such a weird concept, walking down the streets and seeing all these different girls. I do get how some people think it’s objectifying women and there is no respect for one’s self. In a way I agree, however, I believe you should do what makes you happy.

The sex museum was interesting, to say the least. Not something I would recommend for the light-hearted. It’s very graphic! Just something to bear in mind if you do get very embarrassed or are someone who cringes very easily. Didn’t stay long but it was definitely a laugh and wasn’t that expensive. I think it’s one of those things you have to tick off your list when you come to Amsterdam.

Amsterdam’s Ice Bar Experience was insanely good! Even if you don’t make it out to Amsterdam I would 100% recommend checking out the one in London as I have heard it’s just as good. It’s so cold in there but not unbearable and you get given coats and gloves. So if anyone was put off by the ice bit then I can confirm that it’s not as bad as you think. It’s really interesting as you can only have shots because the mixer would freeze if they were together. This bar was the only one that served Nutella vodka so of course I made the most of that and had a couple of shots! The whole experience was really lovely. 100% recommend!

We were really lucky with the weather, it was absolutely gorgeous! We decided to go to the ‘Artis Zoo’ and it honestly put all of the UK Zoos to shame. The grounds were amazing, well-kept and just stunning. There was a wide range of animals including an aquarium and planetarium. I don’t know if it was because I am a bit older now but I appreciated it so much more being an adult. There was just so much to look at and the grounds were massive. It really had a lovely feel to it, the animals looked happy and safe.

The hotel we stayed in was really one of a kind. I would recommend staying there especially if you are a student as it’s called ‘The Student Hotel.’ It was very modern, with lots of seating and quirky designs. I loved how they had games to play like a pool table. Obviously had a few games; would be rude not to. Choosing a hotel is so important, it’s your space you come back to. I think it’s important to make sure you pick a nice hotel that you will feel comfortable in. Otherwise, it does ruin the trip, in my opinion. The room was so cosy and just had all the vibes that I love. The bed was super comfy and I literally went out like a light!

I never liked museums and had never been too many. I feel I did a lifetime of museums on this short trip but I’m not complaining as it was worth it! The Banksy museum was outstanding. What a talented artist. I’m a real sucker for meaningful, thought-provoking and deep questionable things. For sure, that is what I got. The issues and topics ‘Banksy’ brought up were really interesting and eye-opening. So worth a trip and to gain knowledge. We took a quick trip to the diamond museum. Diamonds are definitely a girl’s best friend as I fell head over heels for some of the beauties that were displayed. I have always been a diamond lover and reading how they are made, discovered and where they come from was so fascinating. Love a bit of culture me! I think it’s so important to get educated in anything. Knowledge is something no one can take away from you.

The food was incredible! Constantly being surrounded by sweet treats is not good for the waistline, however, that did not stop me from eating everything in sight! Everything was so tasty! ‘The Breakfast Club’ pancakes are just a must! I think there might be a few around the world so if you come across the cute little café, order the ‘New York Pancakes’ and thank me later!

It only took 40 minutes to get to Amsterdam, which to me was mind-blowing! Another reason why you should go. It was a trip of a lifetime and one I will not be forgetting in a hurry. Three days was definitely not enough. I will 100% be going back to see the beauty again. Had an amazing time with my best friend and I couldn’t be feeling more thankful, grateful and happy.

Lots of love and happiness
