New Chapter, My Daily Routine and Having A Year Off…

So college is finally over for good! I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am. I have always hated education and had such a battle with it mentally. However, in the last two years, I have learnt a lot. Freedom, independence and finding myself. It’s been a hell of a journey so far but that’s just the beginning. I discovered what I truly love which is blogging and helping others. It truly overwhelms me all your lovely messages and this is why I do it. I want to build this into something really amazing. Any feedback, comments or ideas are very much appreciated. I want to get you all involved and have your input.

Welcome to another chapter in my life. I’m nervous but mostly excited. It’s not going to be perfect but life isn’t. I want it to be real and enjoyable. I want to build a community of beautiful people who are kind, considerate and can relate to each other.

Whatever stage you are at in your life, I just want to say that its okay to feel lost. If your starting University, a new job or simply just having a year off like me. These things are scary and you can totally feel not in control of your life. Just go down a path and see where it takes you, you never know what could come out of it. Everyone feels the same and I think that is such an important thing to think about as your walking into your new environment.

Taking a year off seems all fun, games and lots of free time. However, I think it’s important to have a routine. As humans, we all need some sort of structure to our lives. I have been planning this since the beginning of this year. I just needed a break from education, I may go back into it after this year and that’s okay. We are all still young and for some of us, a break is what we need. I will be working while doing this on the side. Oh and learning my driving theory which is very hard. I mean there is just so much to take in but slowly and surely I will get there.

It can be hard to motivate yourself while having a year off. You may have a job but I think it’s important to find things that interest you and you enjoy doing. Just so you can keep your mind occupied and happy. This is the routine I am currently doing and I love it. I have some tips and things that I have found really helpful and enjoyable.

  • Waking up at 8 AM

Well, I try to anyway. If you know me then you know I love to sleep in, so this has been quite an adjustment for me. However, I have found it really refreshing and you have so much more of the day.

  • Exercise IMG_3893[1]

Another thing I really took time adjusting too! I never really exercised and that’s really bad. I’m tired all the time and it has been proven that it helps your mental health. Which I’m all for trying out. I really love doing ‘Yoga.’ It’s very therapeutic and relaxing. I would recommend this as it connects you with your body and mind. I love watching ‘@Madeleine Shaw’ on YouTube. Her ‘Yoga’ sessions are really lovely. She talks you through everything and is really calming. I think ‘Yoga’ is a great place to start if you’re not that into exercise.

  • Podcasts

Recently I have been really getting into Podcasts. I’m addicted!IMG_3894[1]There is something about listening to someone speak that is very calming. Podcasts are a great thing to listen to if your cleaning, having a bath or just getting ready. I love listening to Girlboss radio with Sophia Amoruso. Sophia talks to lots of different women about their careers and their lives. It’s so interesting and motivating! So many tips and advice from inspiring women who have been in our shoes. Couldn’t recommend it more. It gives you the kick up the bum you really need.

  • Herbal Tea

I have always liked herbal tea but only had it now and then. I don’t IMG_3895[1]like normal tea so herbal is a great alternative for me. It has great health benefits but is also a really nice way to start your day. I have been having a cup each morning alongside a glass of water. There are so many lovely flavours. I know people can get a bit intimidated by herbal tea because I was sceptical at first. However, it’s honestly really lovely. Especially if you don’t like normal tea. For beginners or for anyone I would recommend ‘Pukka’ their herbal collection as there is a really good range of teas for you to try.

  • Read a bookIMG_3309[1]

I think it’s important to take some time for yourself and not think too much. Reading is a good way of doing this. I’m loving ‘The F Word’ by Lily Pebbles. As the sun is with us at the moment, get some fresh air, clear your mind and do some reading.

So there are some of my tips and a routine I have been following recently. I hope you find this useful and if you have any other tips you think I might like then leave them in the comments. Whatever you’re doing this coming year I wish you well.

Lots of love and happiness
