We all see advertised monthly subscriptions for lots of different things. T-shirts, beauty products and healthy snacks. I have noticed now more than ever that it is an industry that has blown up over the past few years. But is it actually worth it? Are we getting value for money? Or is it all just a fad. Well, I have tested two subscription boxes to see what I think of this on growing trend. Niomi Smart’s ‘SourcedBox’ and ‘Birchbox’. Two quite popular subscriptions. ‘SourcedBox’ delivers healthy snacks to your door each month and ‘Birchbox’ delivers beauty products. Is one better than the other? Let’s see…
The first box I tried was Niomi Smart’s ‘SourcedBox’. I love Niomi so I had to try out her monthly subscription of healthy snacks. For anyone who doesn’t know Niomi; she is a Youtuber and author of the cookbook ‘Eat Smart’. ‘SourcedBox’ is £18.95 a month. You get around 10 snacks per box (maybe slightly more) and they are all vegan, plant-based. I am a massive snacker so I was excited to try this and find healthier snacks. Some of the snacks were really lovely and others I wasn’t so sure on but I mean you’re not going to like all of them or you might. Depending on how often you snack, they may not last you all month. Well for me they didn’t lol. It is one of the more expensive subscription boxes out there, however, healthy snacks and foods are a lot more expensive because it’s so natural. I think it depends on how much you are willing to spend on these boxes. I had two boxes and then unsubscribed, it was cool to try different snacks and brands but the box didn’t last me a month. I just felt that I had tried it but it wasn’t life-changing and a luxury I can live without. The good thing about it was I discovered some tasty healthy snacks. I used to be scared of trying healthy snacks because they were expensive and I wasn’t sure I would like it. Now that I have tried some I know what I like. This is a good box if you’re unsure of the more healthier snacks and what to get into them. Give this subscription a try to see what you think. It was really easy and simple to unsubscribe with no strings attached. So if you were like me and only wanted to give it a couple ago you could.![IMG_E3949[1]](https://alicewoodward.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/img_e39491.jpg?w=663)
‘Birchbox’ deliver 5 personalised beauty products to your door each month. I have always looked at the beauty subscriptions and wanted to try. So I took the plunge and did it. The box is £10 a month. One thing I did like is how personalised it is. You do a little survey to say what skin type you are and just an overall survey about you. They then send you products that help. I thought that this was a really clever idea because you can discover things that may help your skin, hair etc. The products are travel sized with I think a few exceptions that some are full-sized. The packaging is gorgeous and always reusable. I think it’s different every month but this particular month I got all my goodies in a beautiful tin. The products inside were really cool and I enjoyed using them and discovering new favourites. If you are a beauty addict then I highly recommend one of these boxes. It’s super exciting to see what each box contains every month and I think it’s a cool way to treat yourself. I did a discount they had on at the time where it was 3 months for the price of 2 for £25. My subscription is now over but I would subscribe again as I was really impressed with it. The products do last you a month and sometimes longer depending on what you get.
Are the boxes worth the money? Yes. I think if you are a beauty addict, snacker or just love trying new things. I think this is for you. However, I do think the snack boxes are a little overpriced for what they are. I just think the beauty ones are worth the investment as you are getting your money’s worth. It’s what you like and are willing to spend at the end of the day. I will say I am more likely to purchase ‘Birchbox’ as I think they have really thought of great ways of making this a good experience for the customer. If companies are going to do a monthly subscription service, personally I would like things to last the month. I like how ‘Birchbox’ was the cheaper option and the products lasted me.
I had a really fun time discovering new brands and products. Have you tried any subscription boxes? What do you think? I would love to know. Like this, if you would subscribe to a service or already are. Hope you enjoyed this and that it gave you a little more insight into the subscription world. Would you try it?
Lots of love and happiness
