Managing January Blues and Sorting Your Mindset Out for 2019…

January can be such a depressing month. Christmas is over. We have all spent and eaten too much. Decorations have come down and everywhere is looking pretty empty. Moods can be dull as we go back to work and back into the swing of things. However, January is such an exciting month. New beginnings, new year and achieving more goals. Whatever you have planned or if you simply have no idea then that’s fine. These are my tips and things that have been helping me out…IMG_3894[1]

I have been loving listening to a podcast in the morning. ‘Girlboss Radio’ is my absolute favourite! Advice and lessons from inspirational women. Talking all about their lives and careers. This makes you realise how much it takes to get to where you want to be. Some of these ladies changed directions a couple of times. You honestly don’t have to have your life sorted right now. Things change, opportunities arise. Just keep doing what you’re doing and things will happen. It’s so reassuring and great advice from experienced women.

Exercise! Now I am not a fitness natural. However, I wanted to work out and become a little healthier. I’m not putting too much pressure on myself and IMG_3893[1]I am doing this just to be healthy. As I do think it is important for your mind and body. I hate going to the gym. Thinking about travelling there makes me want to go back to bed. So here is a great alternative. I have been following workouts from ‘Youtube.’ Madeleine Shaw and Niomi Smart are the queens of this and just healthy well-being in general. From full body workouts to yoga; it’s nice to be in the comfort of your home but still feel like you are putting in that work. They also have great tips on food and other lifestyle changes.

Snacks! I am a massive snacker. Now I found some snacks that may not be 100% healthy but work for me and are extremely tasty! They are very basic but I can promise you they are better than having a spoon full of nutella.. don’t judge, I know you do it too!

  • Apple with cinnamon: Chop up an apple and sprinkle some cinnamon on.
  • Blueberries and Nutella: Mix some Nutella and blueberries together or you could do layers of Nutella and blueberries to make it like a dessert.
  • Yoghurt and a choice of fruit with some maple syrup over it.
  • Vegetable Crisps
  • A smoothie of all fruit that is ripe and is about to go off. This is a great idea to stop waste. Also if you just mix the fruit it gives a thicker consistency so it’s more like a pudding.

Body confidence. This is the year we start loving and respecting our bodies more. We are all unique and gorgeous. We all have things we don’t like about ourselves and fat in places, things that are bigger, smaller, lumpier, stretch marks, moles, squiggly bits, rolls, thick thighs etc.. The one fact is that we all have them. Not one body is perfect, we are all perfect in our own ways. Our bodies go through so much and keep us alive we should be proud. Size doesn’t matter as long as you’re keeping healthy and respecting your body. Size is just a number and means nothing. The size of your heart is what matters. Once you learn to love and accept yourself, the world is yours and nothing no longer bothers you. You are free, It’s the best feeling. It’s not easy but once you realise that even some celebrities who photoshop themselves or get surgery are just as insecure. Don’t feel under pressure to follow all these diet pills, shakes and accessories that are sold to us falsely. They aren’t healthy. Unfollow anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or bad about yourself. You’re in control of what you see and if it’s not benefitting you then get rid. Let 2019 be the year you take control. Do things for you, not anyone else. If you want to make changes to your life make sure it’s for the right reasons. Forget what others think. They are just as insecure. Anything said behind your back is none of your business.

Do something this year to improve your mental health. whether that’s deleting negative people off social media. Going to the doctors. Exercising. Letting go of toxic people. Whatever it is in your life, make a start. It’s not going to be easy and it will be a constant battle. But I’m going to join in. I have been to the doctors and am going again very soon. It has honestly been so difficult admitting that maybe I need help and that I can’t do it on my own anymore. It’s horrible because you feel like you are starting from the beginning and it’s raw letting everything out. It’s been very draining but if I can do it then so can you. Let’s do this together! If you ever need someone to talk to then I am here. Message me on any of my socials. I never want you to think you’re going through something on your own because you are never alone with this. You have a friend in me.

Always remember what you see on social media is a highlight reel. You don’t know what is going on behind the scenes. Love yourself and your life. Continue to better yourself and make you into the best version of yourself!

Lots of love and happiness
