What is self-love to you?

Everyone has their own opinions and can not like the word because they think it means an excuse to go and treat yourself and eat unhealthily.

Self-love to me is doing something for your future self. Getting out of your comfort zone because that is where growth happens. I do believe in rest and self-care. We live in such a fast-paced world that I think it’s important to take time for yourself and think about what is important to you. Social media can have us comparing ourselves and feeling we aren’t good enough. It can be exhausting living in today’s world where perfection is becoming normal. There is no such thing as perfect! No one or nothing is perfect. We are all special in our own ways. We have to make the best out of situations and happiness does really come from within.

Self-love is about taking care of yourself which ever way you deem best. I love bubble baths, face masks and chocolate. It gives me a chance to take some time for myself and relax. It’s not all about that though and pretty quotes that you see. However, doing this sort of thing can be nice and I think every once in a while you should treat yourself. You need to love yourself first before you love another. Get to know yourself and love who you are. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks but what you think of yourself that matters.

Sometimes getting up at 8AM and doing a workout routine is what you need. Maybe it’s staying in bed till 11AM and having a onesie day. Life doesn’t always have to look like your busy 24/7. Social media makes us think that we need to be going to fitness classes, buying expensive things and eating all the right foods. Sometimes that’s just not realistic and that’s okay. This life is yours and it’s all about balance. It’s your journey. Yes get inspiration from these people but please don’t take it too seriously and remember they have bad days too but they don’t show you that.

I booked myself in for a massage, facial and my eyebrows to be shaped and tinted. It was the most relaxing state I had been in. I didn’t think about any pressures, I was just in the moment. Yes this is a very luxury thing to do but if you save up and have the money then do it. It was important for me to give my body some love as well as my mind. We constantly use our bodies 24/7 and put strain on them. I wanted to give something back and feel good. It also is a great thing for the mind. Beautiful calming music and scents. It made me realise that I needed this. It’s not something I would do regularly but I believe 2/3 times a year is essential. I have booked in for my birthday in April and I cannot wait!

We can be so hard on ourselves but if you know you are doing your best and working hard then you need to be content. It’s something I’m learning; to just be content with your life. Things don’t happen over night and can take time. Just live in the moment and see what happens. Love yourself because when you do the confidence radiates off of you and you attract beautiful things! Asking for help is never a bad thing and if that is what you need then do it. I have asked for help and it does not make you weak, it makes you human. We all need it from time to time.

Be calm, be content and love yourself.
