It’s funny as a child I was never interested in reading and what I mean by that is I would throw a tantrum if I was told I had to read a book lol. As I have got older I have found a love for books. I still don’t overly like reading story books as I find it a little boring but I do love poetry and lifestyle/beauty books. Anything that is easy reading and has a few pretty pictures in, I’m sold! So here are my top 3 favourite books..
- Love Style Life by Garance Dore
After seeing this book plastered all over my social media it caught my eye. It’s a pretty book; it looks very appealing and I think that’s what sucked me in. I didn’t really think much of it again until I saw it on ASOS and thought I would see what the hype was about and honestly it’s the best book I have ever read, now I haven’t read a lot of books so coming from me that might not mean a lot but then again I’m very picky so it should lol. This book is very easy reading and good to dip in and out, which is what I did. I have never heard of Garance Dore before but after reading this book I felt I could relate to her and her thoughts. It’s such an inspiring read with lots of tips and wise words. I 100% recommend.
2. We should all be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
I heard about this incredible lady from ‘Beyoncé’. In Beyoncé’s song ‘Flawless’ some of ‘Chimamanda’s’ TEDx talk features init. I fell in love with this speech and had to search for this inspiring lady. This book is small and a super easy read. Doesn’t take long at all. I like that. It’s inspirational, motivational and eye-opening. All about equality and raising the next generation. This book has been adapted from her speech so you feel like she’s speaking to you. It’s incredibly personal and gripping. I didn’t want to put this book down as I wanted to hear more from such a phenomenal lady. A lady you need to know about and listen to her wise words.

3. Milk and honey by Rupi Kaur
Probably one of the most hyped poetry books out there but 100% worth the hype. I love poetry, I love the way it can understand you with its clever words. It makes you feel something and that is exactly what ‘Rupi’ does. She makes you feel. In 4 parts you ride the journey of all life’s tough emotions and lessons. You can relate, laugh and cry along with her. A beautiful raw journey that has you turning the page to see more. If you’re feeling lost, emotional or need some comforting words from a lady who has been through it. Then this is your book. Beautiful illustrations to go with beautiful writing.
These books have shaped my ideas and grown me. These 3 women are absolutely phenomenal! Go and check them out as they are truly inspirational. I aspire to be as amazing as these women. Lady’s to look up to and if you don’t know who they are then you need to! Books are so important to feed the mind. You will come away feeling motivated, inspired and changed for the better.
“How is it so easy for you to be kind to people he asked
Milk and honey dripped from my lips as I answered
Cause people have not been kind to me” – Rupi Kaur
Lots of love and happiness
